The farm offers a number of school programs that use our unique facility to provide hands-on experiences to enhance many of the requirements of the Maine Learning Results. At the farm, students will spend two hours engaged in real farm experiences: interacting with animals; planting seeds; stirring compost; playing games which enliven such scientific concepts as pollination, conservation, seed dispersal, plant growth, classification, and animal life cycles. Our programs are adapted according to grade and are multi-disciplinary and multi-modal. At well-prepared stations, we encourage students to discover for themselves ways in which art, science, social studies, math, physical education, and language arts come to life on the farm.

$5.00 per student, chaperones are free.

Limit 50 students per field trip; at least one chaperone for every ten students

Afterschool Adventures on the Farm, an after school program designed through a partnership between the Morris Farm and the Wiscasset Primary School, offers children in grades K-4 opportunities for fun, learning, and exploration! Throughout the year, the farm-based after school program serves local area students each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Children attend Afterschool Adventures on the Farm for just $5.00 a day.

At the end of the school day, a member of the Morris Farm staff meets the children at the Wiscasset Primary School and walks them over to the farm. They head to the Learning Center to eat a healthy snack provided by the farm. The children then do farm animal chores such as feeding Samson, the pigs, and the hens. A highlight of each day is gathering eggs from the laying hens. After chores are completed, children may participate in a range of other agriculture-based activities, including gardening, cooking, canning and preserving food, cheese- or butter-making, fiber arts, nature crafts, and much more. Parents pick up the children at 5:00 pm.

Contact Diane Hoppe at the Morris Farm, 882-4080, to learn more about the program or to enroll your child.

Tuesdays from 1-3:15 pm

The Morris Farm offers a program specifically designed for homeschool students ages 5-11. During these two and a quarter hours the students will participate in farm chores such as collecting eggs and feeding the animals. After chores, children will participate in seasonally appropriate activities on the farm. During the fall these involve working with the animals on the farm, as well as making food from products harvested on the farm. Winter months will find us tracking animals through the snow and in the spring we will welcome the new babies to the farm.

Sessions are limited to 10 students and are $5 per day per child.

If you are interested in participating please call the farm at 882-4080 and speak with Diane Hoppe or Julia Simons.

Fall session:
