JOB TYPE: Seasonal/Summer

The Morris Farm Trust is seeking a Farm Educator for this summer’s Farm Camp. Farm Camp is a day camp for children ages 5-13 held at our 50-acre campus that includes a barn, hen house, community garden plots, greenhouse, fields rotationally grazed by organically-raised Jersey cows, forests, trails, a yurt, campfire site, farm store, and an indoor learning center. Campers care for farm animals, harvest food they grow themselves, and participate in a wide range of activities including fiber arts, nature journaling, and cooking. The camp is small by design, with just 20 children attending each week-long session.

  • The Farm Camp Educator will be responsible for all aspects of camp life:
  • Teaching groups of children ages 5-13
  • Leading animal, gardening, and games and learning activities overseeing snack and lunch time communicating behavior or medical issues to the Camp Director
  • Welcoming and supporting volunteers to the farm (farmer guest speakers, community volunteers, youth counselors in training)
  • Communicating with the resident farmer concerns and needs of the farm animals and garden beds

Community Garden plots now Available!

The Margaret Ellis Community Garden, located at the Morris Farm Trust in Wiscasset, is now accepting applications for garden plots for the 2017 Growing Season.  Garden Plots are 10’by 20’, and cost $45 for a season rental.

2017 marks the seventh season of community gardening at the Morris Farm.  Community gardening offers opportunities for growing tasty and nutritious produce, developing community identity, ownership, stewardship, lowering food bills, meeting new neighbors and forming new friendships, as well as the opportunity to get your hands a little dirty.

An excellent solution for those whose home yards do not offer adequate space, sunlight or soil for gardening, the Margaret Ellis community Garden plots are available to all residents of Lincoln and Sagadahoc counties.  The more than 20 plots available include a common plot where vegetables are grown for sale at the Morris Farm Store, as well as donations to area food banks.

Applications may be requested by calling 207-380-7154.  Applications may also be picked up at the Morris Farm office.
