|Second Saturdays in September, October and November, 10am-12pm
Creating the Morris Farm Trust was presenting a gift to future generations, that they may come, visit the barn animals, stroll in the gardens and hike out to the yurt. The Morris Farm is a community farm and we want everyone to know they are welcome here and to feel comfortable visiting and bringing their friends out. Please join us on the second Saturday of September, October and November for a free, two hour, guided barn and trails tour from 10am - 12pm. The first tour is this Saturday, September 11th. The tour will begin with an approximately 45 minute long tour of the barn and University of Maine Cooperative Extension Master Gardener Volunteer demonstration garden and the new Morris Farm Wiscasset Primary School Garden. Then, tour members who wish to go on, will head out to the rear pastures into the Wiscasset Town Trails and hike to the Morris Farm yurt. This is a moderate, hilly walk and will take about an hour and 15 minutes through a gorgeous forest with roots, rocks, moss and even some fantastic forts. This is a family friendly hike. You will learn how to pass electric fences, what to do when you encounter a cow or Clydesdale and how to find the yurt. The yurt was a gift from one of the Morris Farm's founding members and is a wonderful place to rest before heading back to the farm. Snack and water will be provided, free of charge.
