Morris Farm Silent Auction Policies

  1. By bidding in Morris Farm’s silent auction, each bidder agrees to these auction rules. All sales are final. There will be no exchanges or refunds unless otherwise noted and/or arranged.

  2. All items are “as is.”

  3. The auction item value listed is an estimate of fair market value. Items have not been appraised unless so noted.

  4. The amount you pay above this fair market value estimate is normally tax deductible as a charitable contribution. Please consult your tax adviser to clarify amount of deduction.

  5. Before bidding, please register at the front table, providing your name, address, phone, email and signing that you understand these policies.

  6. Bidding Increments- The bidding should increase in an amount appropriate to the value of the item, in whole dollar amounts. The following bidding increments shall apply to the item’s value:                                                          Value       Incremental Increase                                                                                                                                               $1- $49         $1                                                                                                                                                                             $50-$99       $5                                                                                                                                                                           $100-$499   $25                                                                                                                                                                          >$500          $50

  7. Reserve Bids- On some items, you will notice that “the bidding starts at…”. This means that there is a reserve bid amount, which is the minimum that we can accept for the item, as indicated by the donor. This minimum amount is usually between ⅓ to ½ the fair market value.

  8. Absentee Bids- Should you not be able to attend the auction during the bidding period, you are welcome to leave a maximum bid. You will not be charged your maximum unless the bidding goes that high with other bidders. We will apply your bid amount, provided it is still within your max, to the last highest bid made, in an increment appropriate for the value of the item. Ex: You have left a max bid of $50 for an item. Someone else has bid $25. We will enter a bid for you of $30.

  9. “Left” Bids- If you cannot be present for the auction bidding time, you are welcome to register ahead of time and leave yourbid with one of the MFT staff. You are welcome to do this in person at the office/store, by email or by phone. The bid amount should indicate the maximum dollar figure that you are willing to bid. (see absentee bidding & Bidding Increments, above)

  10. Phone or Email bids- We will gladly take your absentee, or “left” bid via email or phone. We have staff designated to answer the phone, check voicemail and check email during the bidding period. During that time, you are welcome to leave the maximum dollar figure you are willing to bid. WE WILL MAKE ONE LAST CHECK OF EMAIL, PHONE and VOICEMAIL at 6PM and record your max bid. Live Bidding closes at 6:30. We will then apply your bid as noted in Absentee Bidding and Bidding Increments, above.

  11. Payment for items purchased must be made, in full, on the night of the auction to the cashier. Our Organization accepts cash, a check made payable to “Morris Farm”, or credit card through an online payment though Paypal.

  12. Each person bidding assumes all risks and hazards related to the auction and items obtained at the auction. Each bidder agrees to hold harmless from any liability arising indirectly from Morris Farm Trust, their elected and appointed officials, members and employees.
